Count Every Vote was a campaign to counter efforts to undermine confidence in the 2020 election
Type: one-pager, adapted design
Role: designer, developer, administrator
Status: completed (inactive)
Background
The National Council on Election Integrity (NCEI) was formed to combat disinformation in the 2020 election.
In October 2020, the “Count Every Vote” campaign was launched to encourage calm and crosspartisan cooperation in the post-election period and to demand that every vote be counted.
Objectives
Create a single but adaptable 1-page design to inform potential voters and reset their expectations about the timeline for election results. Also, encourage potential voters to share this information with people in their networks.
Design
The primary vehicle for achieving this objective was a musical, educational video that served as the centerpiece. The design of the site was intended to extend the style of the video, which could probably best be described as a modernized Schoolhouse Rock
The site itself was a landing page for targeted ads on social media, so the design also needed to be adapted to include or exclude information based on where the ad was run. Different states had different election laws and procedures, so a slight variation of the generic design was made for each of the 7 targeted states.
